Exciting news for <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/life/people/whats-cooking-daniel-kerr-dune-restaurant-fistral-beach-hotel-and-spa/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Daniel Kerr</a> and the team at <a href="https://fistralbeachhotel.co.uk/eat-drink/dune-restaurant/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dune Restaurant</a>&nbsp;at the&nbsp;<a href="https://fistralbeachhotel.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa</a>&nbsp;in Newquay has been awarded two AA Rosettes becoming one of only two restaurants in Newquay holding the prestigious two Rosette accreditation. The menus are a collection of bold flavours and textures that champion the freshest produce available, sourced locally where possible, to bring a collection of food presented simply in a relaxed manner.

It&#8217;s also all go over near Lostwithiel, where the new Orangery restaurant will open from Wednesday 24 May at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery. Bookings are open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea in the new light filled elegant space, taking its inspiration from the Mediterranean but with a modern twist.&nbsp;The traditional Duchy Afternoon Tea is adorned with all manner of delectable fancies and moreish savouries, all in true Nursery style, and is served from 2.30pm, every day (Sunday from 2pm). <a href="https://www.duchyofcornwallnursery.co.uk/cafe/the-orangery-2" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Afternoon teas must be booked 48 hours in advance</a>.

We&#8217;re also pleased to say that local lad David Waters has been appointed Head Chef at <a href="https://www.meudon.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hotel&nbsp;Meudon</a>&nbsp;near Falmouth. Hailing from Penzance, he first made his mark at the Victoria Inn at Perranuthnoe, achieving 2 AA Rosettes and then to Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, the flagship two-Michelin Star restaurant at Port Isaac. Bringing his produce-led, simple, and not over complicated style of cooking to Hotel Meudon, he has introduced a new afternoon tea and three course lunch menu. At £45 per person, it is pre-bookable for groups of six or more. Finally, a show stopping surf and turf menu will be available on Saturday evenings during May, featuring a sharing board of Cote de Boeuf and half a lobster, served with fries and salad, from £44.50 per person based on two sharing.

Speaking of lobsters, The Beach Hut in Watergate Bay have launched brand-new Lobster Fridays for the ultimate end-of-week indulgence for seafood lovers. Running weekly from now until the end of September, diners can tuck in to half a lobster drizzled in hot parsley butter, served with fries and a rocket salad &#8211; all accompanied by incredible ocean views. Locally sourced from Newquay fisherman Buck Buckett’s day boat and landed in the harbour, Cornish lobster doesn’t get any fresher than this.

Just down the coast in Hayle,&nbsp;Rupert Cooper, a former&nbsp;professional rugby player who followed his love of food to take over Philleigh Way Cookery School, opened the doors to his version of <a href="http://www.covecafehayle.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cove Café</a> on 3 May. Cove Café will be serving dishes such&nbsp;as Cornish Fish&nbsp;Soup, Mushroom Fricassee and Mussels with ‘Nduja &amp; Mascarpone from Weds &#8211; Sunday with no booking needed.

Another new opening &#8211; this time the redesigned <a href="https://www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk/shopping-eating/afternoon-tea" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Harbour Loft at St Michael&#8217;s Mount</a>, opening on Monday 15 May with a new afternoon tea experience. Overlooking the harbour at one of Cornwall’s most iconic locations, Head Chef Greg Milne, has created a unique, high-end menu. It is inspired by locally sourced, Cornish produce, with many producers located around and close to Mount’s Bay.



Food miles are reduced to near zero in the case of pine, rose, nettles, sorrel, fennel pollen and edible flowers that are grown on the island. There’s an extensive menu of tea served, sourced from the Tregothnan estate, who grow their own teas on a plantation on the banks of the River Fal.

Also in Falmouth, <a href="https://discoverymarket.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Discovery Market</a> will take place for the first time on Friday 19th May from 10am – 5pm. The first market includes amongst other foodstuffs: Great Scott Hot Sauces, Cornish Meadow Preserves, Food of the Gods Raw Chocolate, Moreish Mushrooms, Black Rock Gin, Landmark Coffee, and an array of fresh veg from Roots and Shoots – a market garden located just outside Falmouth. 



Over in Penryn, Yallah Coffee have opened <a href="https://www.instagram.com/workshoppenryn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Work / Shop</a> on Commercial Road, a café, deli, food and drink shop, plus plenty of space for working. Just the place to get a quiet few hours writing done!

Sheltered by warm stone walling, and planted more formally than other areas, the new Court Garden at Trebah is an area for everyone to enjoy regardless of their mobility or impaired senses. Offering visitors a diverse range of plants and flowers, all chosen by head Garden Darren Dickey not only to encourage pollinators but also to engage with the senses, the new garden is open to the public from Friday 12 May.



And from one type of garden to another. St Michaels Report spa garden has had a complete refurb and is now open, with a much larger outdoor hot tub, a cold plunge pool, new decking and seating areas as well as retaining the popular barrel sauna.

The Eden Project announced today that legendary rock band The Who will join the lineup playing the <a href="https://www.edensessions.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eden Sessions</a> this summer. Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and band will take to the stage in front of the iconic biomes complete with full orchestra on July 25. Tickets go on general release at 5.30pm Monday May 15, 2023.
