<p>It is farewell in St Mellion to Dan Cox&#8217;s debut restaurant&nbsp;<a href="http://www.crocadon.farm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Crocadon</a> who have announced they are closing with immediate effect. <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/local-michelin-star-winners-cornwall/">Awarded a Michelin star and Cornwall&#8217;s only green Michelin star</a> in 2024, the team then retained them in 2025&#8217;s awards. The farm to fork restaurant closure announcement comes just a few months after the Crocadon <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/latest-news/august-superflash-new-restaurants-cornwall/">bakery and café closure</a>. Dan says that &#8220;the farm will continue to thrive under new stewardship, and the work we’ve started will carry on in new forms&#8221;.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-another-michelin-guide-entry-for-cornwall">Another Michelin Guide entry for Cornwall</h2>



<p>Speaking of the Michelin Guide, last month we brought you the news that the addition of <a href="https://www.fourboyscafe.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Four Boys</a>&nbsp;in Rock made it 38 restaurants in Cornwall. Eagle eyes will see that the number remains at 38 even now Crocadon has closed. The reason? <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/life/people/adam-handling-ugly-butterfly-the-headland-newquay-cornwall/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Adam Handling</a>&#8216;s Ugly Butterfly is the latest new entry! This is a real accolade for the team, only relocating to their <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/latest-news/new-restaurants-cornwall-ugly-butterfly-headland-hotel/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">new site in Newquay</a> in July 2025. <p>Up the coast in Padstow, chef Adam Banks has announced his return to Little Prawn, where he will be installing himself for a second winter residency.</p>



<p>In Penzance meanwhile, Orto, a neighbourhood restaurant by Fred, creator of Little Ears, is opening soon. </p>

<p>Over in Porthleven, <a href="https://kotarestaurant.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kota</a>, chef Jude Kereama’s much lauded restaurant, is popping up in a new location for the winter. From Thurs 6 Nov Kota will be operating from the beautifully appointed lounge at sister restaurant&nbsp;Kota&nbsp;Kai. Situated on the Harbour Head at Porthleven, find the same restaurant offering in the new space three days a week. The winter menu stays true to&nbsp;Kota&nbsp;&#8211; featuring nostalgic dishes that have defined it over the years, all true to Jude’s style but with a fresh take. Guests still have the option to enjoy the tasting menu, alongside an array of snacks. </p>



<p>The&nbsp;Kota&nbsp;front of house team, led by&nbsp;Kota’s manager Elle Lagdon, will ensure the same friendly and warm welcome guests have grown to know and love. Kereama says &#8220;consolidating for the winter is a practical decision, as it allows us to protect our team, maintain the quality of experience our guests expect, and ensure&nbsp;Kota&nbsp;continues to thrive as we head towards our twentieth year.&#8221;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/best-of/100-best-pubs-2025" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Good Food Guide&#8217;s Best 100 UK pubs</a> includes two from Cornwall. The St Kew Inn (74) and The Gurnard&#8217;s Head (98), above, make the cut. </p>



<p><a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/life/people/whats-cooking-paul-welburn-fern-nanstallon-cornwall/">Paul Welburn</a>‘s new hyper-seasonal restaurant in Cornwall,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DO0nye6kXnK/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fern</a>&nbsp;in Nanstallon near Bodmin, is now up, running and receiving excellent reviews.</p>



<p>Other closures for Cornwall include Da Bara Bakery in St Mawes, who closed for good at the end of last month.</p>

<p>Situated on a quiet street in the old town of Padstow, The Ainsworth&#8217;s <a href="https://padstow-townhouse.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Padstow Town House</a>, is an 18<sup>th</sup>&nbsp;century building with six uniquely styled suites, set back from the bustling harbour. In October, it was awarded it&#8217;s <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/latest-news/michelin-key-hotels-cornwall-devon-south-west/">first Michelin Key</a>, joining three others in Cornwall. The Ainsworths are also the new owners of the St Enodoc Hotel in Rock, just over the water, which has now closed to allow extensive renovations.</p>

<p>Fresh off the runway of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Pasty has sashayed her way around the Eden Project’s Rainforest Biome. Pasty, from Cornwall, showcased her Eden-themed outfit, complete with an umbrella resembling a Biome, in episode one of the latest series of the hit show, in front of RuPaul and judges Michelle Visage, Alan Carr and Joel Dommett.</p>



<p>The headliner announcements for summer festivals 2026 in Cornwall are indeed like buses. Skunk Anansie, Chevy Metal and The Alive have been announced for <em>The Great Estate Festival</em>. Groove Armada DJ Set, Scissor Sisters and Kool &amp; The Gang are at <em>Rock Oyster Festival, </em>and The Pixies are the first Eden Session announced, playing on Fri 26 June 2026.</p>
