<p>Happy 25th birthday to the Eden Project; such a milestone even the King and Queen swung by for a piece of cake, joined in a celebratory Big Lunch held in the Mediterranean Biome, and had a go at the new marble run using wooden marbles created from Duchy Estate trees felled by recent storms.</p>

<p>Speaking of his Majesty, the King Charles III England Coast Path has been officially inaugurated as the world’s longest coastal trail, one quarter of which is made up to the South West Coast Path which runs round the entirety of Cornwall.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-new-openings">NEW OPENINGS</h2>



<p>Cornwall&#8217;s restaurants and hospitality venues emerge from their winter refresh, rejuvenated and ready to go &#8211; including many favourite restaurants and cafés. Also re-opening on 31 March is Penzance&#8217;s geothermal waters at the iconic art deco <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/jubilee-pool-penzance/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jubilee Pool</a>, with brand new sauna membership options and a new café.</p>

<p>The Cornwall Hotel Collection have completed the purchase of the historic Atlantic Hotel in Newquay, above, which will now join their Cornish-owned collection alongside The Greenbank, The Falmouth, and The Alverton. Overlooking the dramatic cliffs and vast Atlantic horizon, The Atlantic Hotel has been an enduring feature of Newquay’s landscape since it first opened in 1892. Built during the height of the Victorian railway boom, when seaside tourism flourished, the hotel quickly became one of Cornwall’s most prestigious coastal retreats. Its commanding position above Towan Beach, sweeping sea views, and distinctive Victorian architecture have made it a beloved landmark for generations of visitors and locals alike.</p>



<p>A new chapter in Penzance’s high street is unfolding as ‘The Apothecary’ opens its doors, the first working high-street apothecary in the West Cornwall town for more than 85 years. Founded by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.apothecaryforager.co.uk/about" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Medical Herbalist Ruth Weaver BSc</a>&nbsp;(Hons), The Apothecary is not only a retail space, but also a working herbal health hub and drop-in clinic in the heart of Ruth’s hometown, offering professional, science-led herbal medicine to the local community and beyond.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/pl28cafe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PL28 Café</a> opens at the end of the month in Padstow. The family-run establishment helmed by Thomas Hines will be a café by day and a 16 seater restaurant for an intimate small plates menu cooked and served by the chefs by night &#8211; bang on the <a href="https://muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/the-rise-of-micro-restaurants/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">micro restaurant trend</a>.</p>



<p>In Truro, 2018 Bake Off: The Professionals finalist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/yumii_pastry_/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Darryl Collins</a> and owner of Yumii Pâttiserie has found his new home at The Arborist Café, with the collaboration launching on 3 April.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Up on Bodmin Moor, Kerdroya, the world’s largest stone labyrinth has been completed and has now fully re-opened to the public. Located at Colliford Lake, this extraordinary land art project was conceived by its Cornish creator, Will Coleman, and stands as a living monument to Cornwall’s landscape, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage.</p>



<p>Multi-award-winning author, Wyl Menmuir, has begun restoration of ‘Eleana’, a well-loved and well-sailed 1962 wooden wayfarer, in NMMC’s workshop as part of a short-term residency.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-sad-goodbyes">SAD GOODBYES</h2>



<p>Sadly it is time to say goodbye to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/hevva_uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hevva!</a> in Falmouth, who close their doors after last service on 27 March 2026. Rewarded with a listing in the Michelin guide only recently, chef Finn has announced his time in Cornwall has come to a close for now, as he heads up to London for new opportunities. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-cornwall-on-tv">CORNWALL ON TV</h2>



<p>The latest series (that’s season 4) of BBC TV drama&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001jg5h" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Beyond Paradise</a>&nbsp;hits screens this week, with episode one airing on BBC One at 8pm on Fri 27 March 2026. The detective series is set in Devon, the fictional ‘Shipton Abbott’ (actually Looe in Cornwall!) and many more of the <a href="https://cornwall.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/film-tv/where-is-beyond-paradise-filmed/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Beyond Paradise filming locations are in Cornwall</a>.</p>
